2020-2021 Calendar (On hiatus until...)
SAVANNAH RIVER WINDS SEASON
PRISM *
The First Baptist Church of North Augusta, Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC
Concert is free to the public.
PRISM features the chamber ensembles from Savannah River Winds.
Chamber groups such as flute choir, saxophone quartet, brass
quintet, percussion ensemble, and many others are positioned
throughout the sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of North Augusta.
Each ensemble performs one after the other, surrounding the audience
in a “theater in the round” presentation. This gives the audience the
opportunity to hear the “color” of each section in the wind ensemble.
After the last chamber ensemble performs, they move to the staging
area where they combine all of the “colors” of their individual groups
and blend their sounds into the sound of the wind ensemble.
*Guest soloist will be Dr. Martin Jones from Augusta University. He will perform Julie Giroux’s CORDOBA for piano and wind ensemble.
VETERAN’S CONCERT
Grace Methodist Church, Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC
Concert is free to the public.
This annual concert honors our veterans past and present. Veteran’s
names are printed in the program and announced during the concert.
This is a fund raiser where 100 % of the donations go to the local
Wounded Warrior Foundation. For information on how to honor a
veteran, go to NACAC Website.
TBD, GMEA DISTRICT X HONOR BAND
Wesley United Methodist Church, North Bel Air Road, Evans, GA
Concert is free to the public.
This concert is performed annually for the directors of District X and their
honor band students. It is, however, open to the public. The students have the opportunity to watch and listen to
their teachers perform on stage. It is a good educational experience
for them. They see how following their musical education
can afford them an opportunity to use it as a vocation or avocation.
They will not only see and hear their teachers, but other adults in
various careers who chose to continue playing after
graduation from high school and/or college.
TBD, MUSIC IN THE PARK
Concert is free to the public.
This concert is usually lighter in nature, and, weather permitting, will be
performed outdoors. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved indoors to the Community Center adjacent to the park.
The performance not only features the SRW Wind Ensemble, but also
the SRW Jazz Ensemble. The members of the jazz ensemble are
taken from the larger wind ensemble. The music is a variety of
big band, modern jazz, and vocals.
